This is an overview of my Website Design Service development process. I am very open to working in a way that is most comfortable for you, but I have found that it is best to start with an agreed upon plan, whatever that may be. There is no need for YOU to be worried about the size of the list. It is used only as a guideline to keep our project on track. (I actually do a lot more than what’s on this list).
- Review existing website and it’s functionality.
- Develop initial targeted list of keywords
- Prepare map of new website
- Define content and flow requirements.
- Discuss calls to action
- Set up development website
- Create website dummy for client sign off
- Purchase stock images for initial design
- Add necessary plugins
- Integrate social media elements
- Add email subscription box
- Create navigation structure and content placeholders
- Build blog categories and tags
- Add website copy
- Add documents, images, and videos
- Add blog authors and bios
- Optimize copy with internal links
- Create unique meta tags, titles, and descriptions for each web page and post
- Create and test contact forms
- Create robots.txt file
- Test website for bugs across all major browsers
- Transfer website to client domain and update DNS records
- Verify client email usage and update MX records as needed
- Validate contact forms are operational on live website
- Add Google Analytics code
- Prepare sitemap.xml file
- Submit XML sitemaps to Google, Yahoo, and Bing
- Set up RSS feed in Google Feedburner if needed
- Prepare website log in credentials for client access
- Provide client access to Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools
